Land Rover owner for 14 years

"Range Rover owner for over 10 years. I don't know what goes on beneath the bonnet and don't want to know. "

My father, who was a farmer, bought one of the first Range Rovers in about 1972. He paid £2,000 for it _ those were the days! Until then he had always used, as a farm vehicle, a succession of Austin A30 vans. Father was 6ft 6ins tall, and so he looked pretty ridiculous in his A30 van hunched over the steering wheel , and the family was delighted when he decided to treat himself to a new Range Rover. However, it didnÍt last long, as Father was horrified with the increased petrol consumption _ compared with his A30 van! I came to Range Rovers in 1999, after driving Volvo estates for many years, when I bought an ex-demo with 6,000 miles on the clock. Since then I have bought new Range Rovers in 2004, 2007, and 2011. My current model is the Range Rover 4.4TDV8 Vogue, and is the best yet. On long journeys I drive with a fairly light foot, and regularly achieve 40mpg, with something over 550 miles driven on a full tank. For me the key to the Range Rover is its sheer versatility. I drive about 25,000 miles a year throughout the country visiting theatres _ for my business _ and I can be in Berwick-upon-Tweed one day, London the next, and then on a winter weekend have dogs, guns, and muddy shooters on board. The Range RoverÍs style, comfort, and on & off-road capabilities make it the best there is.I had a test drive recently in the all new Range Rover, and it is an awesome piece of kit.
